| Artist Bill Mevin, who worked with Maurice Dodd on The Perishers for the last 14 years that the strip was running in the Daily Mirror, has illustrated a book on the work of the personal bodyguard by former Metropolitan Police Inspector Geoffrey Padgham.
Mr Padgham, has 27 years’ experience in close protection – and he spent 22 of those years in operations and senior management duties with the Royalty Protection Department at Buckingham Palace.
He has used the skills and knowledge he gained in close protection, as well as in designing and delivering training, to write a book aimed at educating those who wish to go into close protection work in the private sector.
The book aims to strip away the myths which sometimes surround close protection work and show it as it really is.
Mr Padgham said: “Bill Mevin’s illustrations throughout the book have perfectly captured the correct mixture or professionalism and humour in the security industry. They are just the job.”
