Bill Mevin studied at Liverpool School of Art Before joining Gaumont British Studios as a trainee film animator under the auspices of David Hand, top Disney Director ( Snow White and Bambi ), who appointed Bill character designer. This led to animation work on the first British fulllength cartoon film "Animal Farm" and various shorts.
Leaving the studio he discovered that the Sunday Chronicle newspaper was looking for a cartoonist to draw topical themes. Bill got the job and worked there for six months until the paper was taken over.
Later he entered the world of children's comics, and for several years drew many well known TV characters, including Dr Who, Popeye, Bugs Bunny, Yogi Bear, Bill and Ben, Space Patrol and many more.
When the market shrank he acquired a new agent who suggested he created a cartoon strip satirizing the American soaps Dallas and Dynasty.
The strip was bought on sight by the legendary Sir David English for the Daily Mail. It was given the star treatment under the title of "The Soapremes."
Currently Bill is drawing the world famous strip "The Perishers", appearing in the Daily Mirror, and has done so for the past eleven years.
